Polish President Lech Kaczynski died together with his wife Maria and other government officials in a plane crash near Russian airport.
Some of the country's most prominent military and civilian leaders gathered outside the presidential palace in Warsaw on Saturday to mourn the dead.
There were no survivors among the 97 aboard the plane, which crashed while coming in for landing in thick fog in western Russia, leaving Poland's government decimated and its residents in shock.
