Stars Come and Go, But The Institution Stays – Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III

 

gabby The Chief Executive Officer of ABS-CBN, Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III catered a stockholders meeting on May 27, 2010 addressing the issue involving Wowowee main man Willie Revillame.  Based on reports, one of the network’s partners appealed the negative financial impact of Revillame’s recent conduct during the open forum.

According to Lopez, “There are ongoing discussions now with Willie and we prefer to keep these discussions at this point between ourselves and Willie.”

He also acknowledged the effect brought by the controversy.  Dealing with a talents behavior, both positive and negative goes with the territory.

The issue also involves reporter and radio anchor Jobert Sucaldito which according to Willie, he has been a victim of negative comments including the Wowowee contestants.  He asked the network to release him to stop the issue.

On May 24, Willie and ABS-CBN management met while after the meeting he  asked for an “indefinite leave” and will not work until August nor guesting into direct program’s competitor.

willie “These decisions will be made in the proper time.  I think the best decision we made is for both Willie and I to decide that, for the interim, we will both keep silent about what’s going on, and these discussions will be made in the course of the next several months.”

And these is the most stern reminder issued by Lopez to business partners:  “Stars come and go, but the institution stays.”
